HKCAAVQ Annual Report 2018/19 published
HKCAAVQ has published its Annual Report for year 2018/19. The Report, themed “Making Impact In a New Era of Quality Assurance”, has outlined the HKCAAVQ’s work and activities including highlights of the year and operational review of various services of HKCAAVQ, as well as the Financial Report, from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019.    The digital version of the Annual Report is now available on HKCAAVQ website.

Revised Fee Schedule for Qualifications Assessment
In accordance with Section 13(2) of the HKCAAVQ Ordinance (Cap. 1150), the Permanent Secretary for Education has, under delegated authority, approved a fee adjustment for qualifications assessment services provided by HKCAAVQ for the coming financial year 2020/21. From 1 April 2020, the fee for qualifications assessment for different purposes will be adjusted as follows: For Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS) purpose: HK$3,365 (US$435) For teacher registration purpose: HK$3,130 For general purpose: HK$2,835​

Revised Fee Schedule for Accreditation Exercises
In accordance with Section 13(2) of the HKCAAVQ Ordinance (Cap. 1150), the Permanent Secretary for Education has, under delegated authority, approved a fee adjustment for accreditation services provided by HKCAAVQ for the coming financial year 2020/21. The revised fee schedule will be effective for all accreditation exercises with service agreements signed on or after 1 April 2020. The revised fee schedule and its explanatory notes effective as of 1 April 2020 can be found in the HKCAAVQ website.

HKCAAVQ Council Member Wilfred Wong appointed as ordinary member of Travel Industry Authority (TIA)
The Government earlier announced that the Chief Executive has appointed Mr Ma Ho-fai as the Chairperson of the Travel Industry Authority (TIA) and 28 persons as ordinary members of the TIA, including 13 trade members and 15 non-trade members, for a period of two years with effect from January 1, 2020. The appointments were made in accordance with section 1 in Schedule 9 to the Travel Industry Ordinance (TIO) (Chapter 634). Mr Wilfred Wong Kam-pui, also Council Member of HKCAAVQ, has been appointed as one of the non-trade members of the TIA. The TIA is a new statutory regulatory body of the travel industry established under the Travel Industry Ordinance. It is primarily responsible for the licensing and regulation of travel agents, tourist guides and tour escorts. The trade members comprise individuals who are engaged in inbound and outbound travel agent business, tourist guides and tour escorts, and members of the Board of Directors of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC). Non-trade members come from various fields and can provide advice to the TIA with their expertise and experience in the respective areas, including law, accountancy, finance, education, consumer affairs and general administration, thereby contributing to the setting up of a comprehensive and effective regulatory regime for the travel industry.

HKCAAVQ renews Memorandum of Understanding with ASQA
HKCAAVQ is pleased to announce the renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), since the two agencies entered into a MoU in 2016.    The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr Irene Ioannakis, Commissioner for Regulatory Operations of ASQA, and Mr Albert Chow, Executive Director of HKCAAVQ, in Sydney, Australia on 27 November, 2019.    The MoU further strengthens the collaborative relationship of ASQA and HKCAAVQ in terms of improving the quality of vocational education and training in Australia and Hong Kong. With the implementation of the MoU, both parties will work even closer on sharing of good practices in quality assurance and regulatory approaches and exchange of information relating to vocational education and training (VET) in Australia and Hong Kong.    ASQA is the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector, administering legislation to the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (NVR Act). It aims at providing for national consistency in the regulation of VET and enhancing quality, flexibility and innovation in VET in Australia.
