|
Consultancy agreement with the Agriculture,
Fisheries and Conservation Department
The HKCAAVQ was commissioned by the
Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department
(AFCD) in April 2010 to conduct a three-year
Comparative Study of Veterinary Qualifications in
the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States,
Mainland China and Taiwan. A report on the study
framework was submitted to AFCD in January 2011
to lay down the parameters for on-site visits to the
study targets in 2011 and 2012.

Briefing on the Qualifications Framework
The HKCAAVQ organised a briefing session
for operators on the Hong Kong Qualifications
Framework (QF) and our accreditation services on
23 April 2010. The event was well attended by over
170 participants from 118 operators.

|
|
|
Briefing on Non-local Learning Programme accreditation
A briefing session on Non-local Learning Programme
(NLP) accreditation was held on 18 May 2010.
During the event, the HKCAAVQ shared with
120 participants the processes and indicative
schedule for NLP accreditation for Art and Design
programmes.

|
|
Qualifications Register system enhancement
The HKCAAVQ, as the Qualifications Register (QR)
Authority, launched enhancements to functions of
the QR on 14 June 2010. New features covering
all interfaces of the QR were introduced with an
aim to enhance the user-friendliness of the system.
A briefing was held on 18 June 2010 to introduce
these new features to over 200 representatives of
operators whose programmes are on the QR.
Launch of NLP accreditation service
The HKCAAVQ officially launched the NLP
accreditation framework in June 2010. The first
discipline covered was Art and Design with the
participation of three local operators involving
25 programmes provided by institutions from the
United Kingdom, Australia and the United States.

|
|
Workshop for the Higher Education Evaluation
and Accreditation Council of Taiwan
The Director of Accreditation and Assessment of the
HKCAAVQ delivered a two-day workshop to the staff
and specialists of the Higher Education Evaluation
and Accreditation Council of Taiwan in mid-August
2010. The workshop covered a wide range of topics
relating to accreditation, including the accreditation
system and principles of Hong Kong, report writing,
the engagement of accreditation panels and case
studies.
Launch of QALink
The HKCAAVQ launched its bi-monthly e-newsletter
QALink in August 2010 to keep specialists and other
stakeholders informed of the latest developments
in our services as well as the latest developments
in international practices and standards in quality
assurance.

|
|
HKCAAVQ 20th Anniversary Conference
About 150 guests, Council Members and staff of the
HKCAAVQ joined the HKCAAVQ 20th Anniversary
Conference Quality Assurance at the Crossroads
¡V A Critical Reflection after Twenty Years
on
14 September 2010 to discuss the HKCAAVQ¡¦s
past achievements and future endeavours. The
conference also included in-depth discussions on
the world trends in quality assurance and challenges
that lie ahead.
Signing of MoA with the
Malaysian Qualifications Agency
The HKCAAVQ and the Malaysian Qualifications
Agency entered into a Memorandum of Arrangement
in September 2010 to establish closer relations and
enhance mutual collaboration and support.

|
|
Training to the Employees Retraining Board
The HKCAAVQ conducted 12 training sessions
for the staff of the Employees Retraining Board
and representatives of its training bodies to equip
them with skills and knowledge in determining QF
levels. The training sessions took place from June
to November 2010 and were well attended by more
than 240 participants.
HKCAAVQ granted support for relocation of office
The Education Bureau agreed to support the
application of the HKCAAVQ for the allocation of
three storeys of a primary school in Siu Sai Wan
for use as an office. The new office conversion and
renovation is under way and the project is expected
to be completed by the second half of 2012.

Conducting an Operators¡¦ Survey
To ensure our services meet the needs and
standards of the academic and vocational industries,
the HKCAAVQ conducts an Operators¡¦ Survey
annually to gather views for continuous improvement.
Starting from the end of 2010, all HKCAAVQ services
provided to institutional operators are covered in this
survey.

HKCAAVQ Annual Dinner
The Annual Dinner of the HKCAAVQ was held on
17 March 2011. More than 100 guests including
client institutions, stakeholders, Council members
and staff of the HKCAAVQ attended this gala event
to celebrate and enjoy a memorable evening.

Specialists Appointment Ceremony
The Specialists Appointment Ceremony was held
on 25 March 2011. More than 100 professionals,
experts and practitioners from various industries
attended the ceremony and to advise the HKCAAVQ
on the latest developments in their respective
industry areas.

|
Briefing to Chinese Catering operators
The HKCAAVQ joined hands with the Qualifications
Framework Secretariat to conduct a briefing on
Specification of Competency Standard-based
programmes accreditation for operators in the
Chinese Catering sector on 30 March 2011.
