Emeritus Professor Hilary Winchester is Director and Principal of Hilary Winchester Pty Ltd, specialising in Higher Education Quality Assurance, audits, reviews and compliance assessment. Hilary was Provost at Central Queensland University (CQU) from 2012‐2016, including a period as Interim Vice‐Chancellor July‐October 2016. Hilary’s previous senior appointments include Pro Vice Chancellor: Strategy & Planning at the University of South Australia, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) at Flinders University, and President of Academic Senate at the University of Newcastle. She was an AUQA auditor for 10 years and is a member of TEQSA’s Register of Experts. She is also an international auditor for quality agencies in New Zealand, Hong Kong, and the Middle East, and in recognition of her work in quality standards, regulation and governance Hilary was the recipient of the 2011 Australian Higher Education Quality Award. Professor Winchester was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards 2016 (Queensland).


This course aims to increase understanding of the role of academic governance by clearly identifying key issues with the effectiveness of academic boards, their structure and functioning, and the fundamental relationships between the three elements of corporate governance, executive management and academic governance. It will provide ideas, references and examples to improve the practice of your institution, your committees and their members.

  1. Complete the above Online Registration Form.
  2. A place allocation notice will be emailed to registrants within 3 working days after receiving the registration.
  3. Registrants follow the instructions according to the email to settle payment within a week upon receipt of our allocation notice. Failure of full payment by the deadline will be deemed to have given up their places. In such case, registrants will have to register again if they still want to participate in the training.
  4. A confirmation email will be delivered to participants within 3 working days upon receipt of the full payment.

  • Participants who attend the full training will be issued a Certificate of Attendance, except in the case of late arrivals and/or early departures. The discretion to issue the Certificate lies with HKCAAVQ.
  • The Certificate of Attendance will be distributed to the participants at the end of the training. Requests for any amendment to the certificate must reach RT, HKCAAVQ (email: at least 1 working day before the training.  The certificate will not be re-issued once distributed.  HKCAAVQ will not be responsible for any damage to or loss of a Certificate due to personal reasons.

  1. HKCAAVQ reserves the right to cancel or postpone the training.  In the event of such cancellation or postponement, participants will be notified as soon as practicable, normally at least five working days before the original scheduled date of the training, if circumstances permit.
  2. Fees paid are not refundable except under the following circumstances:
    1. event cancellation due to adverse weather;
    2. event cancellation due to insufficient number of enrolments; or
    3. full registration.
  3. Any refund will be made within two weeks of the scheduled date of the training and by cheque only.
  4. Registration is non-transferable.
  5. If typhoon signal number 8 or a black rainstorm warning signal is issued or expected to be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 7:00am or after, the workshop will be cancelled. If typhoon signal number 8 is issued during the training session, the training will be suspended immediately.
  6. Photographing, audio & video recording are not permitted in the training.
