HKCAAVQ is pleased to announce the renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), since the two agencies entered into a MoU in 2016. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr Irene Ioannakis, Commissioner for Regulatory Operations of ASQA, and Mr Albert Chow, Executive Director of HKCAAVQ, in Sydney, Australia on 27 November, 2019. The MoU further strengthens the collaborative relationship of ASQA and HKCAAVQ in terms of improving the quality of vocational education and training in Australia and Hong Kong. With the implementation of the MoU, both parties will work even closer on sharing of good practices in quality assurance and regulatory approaches and exchange of information relating to vocational education and training (VET) in Australia and Hong Kong. ASQA is the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector, administering legislation to the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (NVR Act). It aims at providing for national consistency in the regulation of VET and enhancing quality, flexibility and innovation in VET in Australia. More details are also available on ASQA’s website. To facilitate VPET Operators’ planning for accreditation, real-time updated timeslots available for accreditation in the next six months are provided in the e-Portal. The timeslots represent the dates of Accreditation Document Submission. The accreditation process will start with the Submission. Operators may reserve a timeslot in which they can be ready to submit the accreditation documents and start the accreditation process. The Accreditation Document Submission Date will be included in the Service Agreement. HKCAAVQ is pleased to announce the renewal of its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, United Kingdom (QAA) on 25 October 2019. The renewed MoU signed by Mr Douglas Blackstock, Chief Executive of QAA, and Mr Albert Chow, Executive Director of HKCAAVQ, signifies the long-term collaborative relationship between the two established QA agencies from 2008. QAA and HKCAAVQ have been close partners on various initiatives and cross-border quality assurance activities. With the implementation of the MoU, the partnership is expected to be even stronger, as both agencies share the common goal in terms of enhancing external quality assurance processes and practices, and improving the quality of higher education in the United Kingdom (UK) and Hong Kong. Amid the changing education and training landscape in UK and Hong Kong, QAA and HKCAAVQ will continue to strive for improved quality and recognition of the higher education in each other’s jurisdiction. QAA was established in 1997 and is the independent body entrusted with monitoring and advising on standards and quality in UK higher education.

Four other board members are newly appointed including Professor Timothy Hew Khe-foon, Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong; Professor Morris Jong Siu-yung, Director of Centre for Learning Sciences and Technologies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Mr Stanley Kam Wai-ming, principal of HKSKH Bishop Hall Secondary School; and Ms Sylvia Chan May-kuen, principal of Ma On Shan Ling Lian Primary School. HKEdCity is a wholly owned company of HKSAR Government and provides a one-stop professional education portal for access to information, resources, interactive communities, online tools and services to strive for innovative learning and enhance teaching effectiveness.
