HKCAAVQ speaks at Higher Education International Conference in Macao

Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) & Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) jointly organised the 10th Higher Education International Conference in Macao on 21 November, 2018. The annual conference, themed Innovation and Developments in Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance, adopted a wide-ranging view of factors impacting on teaching and learning, as well as focusing on development and innovation aspects. The purpose of the Conference was to gather professionals and major stakeholders in the higher education (HE) and quality assurance sectors, to share views on theoretical models and practices of teaching and learning quality assurance systems, enhancement of teaching and learning in HE, outcome-based approach, use of information and communication technologies and quality assurance framework, etc. 

Executive Director of HKCAAVQ, Mr Albert Chow, was one of the keynote speakers of the Conference. Mr Chow shared his insights into the differentiated accreditation approach and online learning programme accreditation, as drivers for quality enhancement. Other keynote speakers included –

  • Professor Jianxin Zhang, President of APQN
  • Mr Ian Kimber, Director of Universities, Quality Enhancement and Standards, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), United Kingdom
  • Professor Alberto Amaral, President, Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), Portugal
  • Professor Sheelagh Matear, Executive Director of Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities (AQA)
