HKCAAVQ speaks at FSTE-OHKF Applied Education Forum

The Applied Education Forum hosted by Federation for Self-financing Tertiary Education (FSTE) and Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) took place at the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong on 6 December 2019. More than 250 guests from the government departments, education and training institutions and industry partners attended to show their support.

In response to the Government’s policy of providing multiple and flexible pathways for young people with diverse aspirations and abilities, and the transformation of future job market by technological advancement, there is a demand to strengthen Applied Education in support of Hong Kong’s development. The provision of equal learning opportunities and adequate resources is significant for young people with various talents and socioeconomic background to flourish, and for the economy and society to prosper. The Applied Education Forum aims at exploring students' passions, nurturing and preparing talents for future challenges, future workplace, and motivating lifelong learning for this rapidly changing society.

Mr Albert Chow, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), was invited to share his insights as to the possible way forward on Applied Education in Hong Kong at the panel discussion. During the panel discussion, the panelists shared their views and experience with a focus on the practicality and impact of applied education, as well as how students would be well equipped with professional skills, applied knowledge, application of technology and innovation as well as soft skills for the new era.
