Executive Director Ms Dorte Kristoffersen and Deputy Executive Director (VPET) Dr Sandra Wong visited the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) in Beijing on 12 January 2018. The purpose of the visit was for the two agencies to enter into their first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Ms Kristoffersen gave an introduction to HKCAAVQ’s mission, roles and responsibilities, while the Deputy Secretary General, Mr Zong Wa of CEAIE introduced the main roles and responsibilities of CEAIE and gave an overview of the latest developments in the higher education sector in the Mainland. CEAIE is responsible for quality assurance of international education in China, especially Chinese-foreign cooperation in education, which includes educational and teaching-learning activities at upper and post-secondary levels, legally implemented jointly by Chinese and foreign education institutions in China with Chinese citizens as primary targets. Accreditations by CEAIE are carried out in accordance with government regulations and sector-recognised standards, to guarantee educational quality and sustainable development.

Representatives from the two agencies then discussed future collaboration on quality assurance, with a focus on accreditation of non-local programmes. The agencies also looked into details of staff exchange arrangement as well as sharing of specialists.

The signing of the MoU is a milestone that marks the joint efforts and commitment of HKCAAVQ and CEAIE in strengthening mutual understanding and collaboration in the field of quality assurance.
