HKCAAVQ co-organises HKQF International Conference 2018 with EDB & QFS

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF), the Education Bureau and the Qualifications Framework Secretariat jointly organised the HKQF International Conference 2018, with HKCAAVQ as the co-organiser.

The two-day Conference was officiated by the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, together with Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, the Chief Executive of Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), Dr Padraig Walsh, Deputy Chief Executive Quality Assurance of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), Dr Grant Klinkum; and the Chairman of HKCAAVQ, Ir Dr Alex Chan.

The Conference, themed “QF in the Next Decade: Quality, Progression & Recognition”, included keynote speeches, plenary discussion forums and parallel sessions in the context of QF developments in Hong Kong and selected places. During the parallel session on “QF for Quality: Good Practices in Quality Assurance” on Day 1, Mr Albert Chow, Executive Director of HKCAAVQ, shared his views together with Dr Padraig Walsh and Professor Zita Mohd Fahmi, Associate QA Specialists of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), also Council Member of HKCAAVQ, about what makes a good QA system. In particular, Mr Chow provided insights into the benefits brought about by applying differentiation approach in accreditation, both to the operators and to an QA agency. On Day 2, Professor James Calleja, CEO/Principal of the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, also Council Member of HKCAAVQ, delivered his speech on “Impact of QF on Vocational Education & Training (VET) and the Future Developments”.

The fruitful Conference was attended by experts from the quality assurance networks, as well as representatives from the education and training sector not only in Hong Kong but also countries worldwide.
