HKCAAVQ attends ENIC-NARIC network joint meeting in Cologne, Germany

16 Jun 2019 - 18 Jun 2019

The 26th Annual Joint Meeting of the European Network of Information Centres in the European Region - National Academic Recognition Information Centres in the European Union (ENIC-NARIC) Networks was held in Cologne, Germany, from 16-18 June 2019.

The annual meeting is an opportunity for the national ENIC-NARIC agencies from across Europe and beyond to convene and discuss matters related to qualification recognition, to formulate agreements and collaborative arrangements, and to exchange views and good practices.

The European Network of Information Centres (ENIC) was established as a joint initiative of UNESCO and the Council of Europe. They are intended to implement the Lisbon recognition convention and, in general, to develop policy and practice for the recognition of qualifications. The ENIC network works closely with the NARIC network, the designated National Academic Recognition Information Centres (NARIC), which provide a way to compare academic qualifications as part of the Bologna Process. Together they form the NARIC network of the European Union. People’s Republic of China is a signatory to Lisbon recognition convention.

Earlier on, two separate projects on framework-to-framework comparison were completed by the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Secretariat (QFS) and New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) which used the mutual European Qualifications Framework EQF referencing reports as a translation device.  At the 26th ENIC-NARIC annual meeting, HKCAAVQ representative joined the QFS delegation to present an overview of the work undertaken in accomplishing the project outcomes.
