Experience Sharing with Council for Private Education of Singapore
Date:
2010.07.26

In the afternoon of 26 July, three delegates from the Council for Private Education visited us to understand more about the quality assurance of privately-funded education in Hong Kong and the work of the HKCAAVQ. Prof Yiu-kwan Fan, Executive Director, Mr Robert Fearnside, Deputy Executive Director, Ms Connie Lok, Director of Accreditation and Assessment, and colleagues from the Division of Academic Accreditation and Division of Assessment explained to the delegates the higher education scene in Hong Kong and the quality assurance mechanism and policies in place.
Mr Henry Heng, Chief Executive Officer of this young statutory body of Singapore, expressed after the meeting that the delegation was glad to directly discuss with the HKCAAVQ and learn more about the support and quality assurance of privately-funded education in Hong Kong. As their council was newly established in December last year to regulate as well as facilitate the development of private education in Singapore, learning from the experiences of other areas, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, would be beneficial for their council’s strategic development. Prof Fan opined that communication and dialogues between the two organisations would help mutual improvements and the overall progress of education in the region.
